Denmarks largest music site moves into the Cloud

Customer:

Bandbase

Challenge:

Making hosting more cost-effective while maintaining flexibility and scalability

The music database Bandbase.dk has moved into the Cloud and is now being hosted in Microsofts data center using Windows Azure.

As Microsoft launched Windows Azure, the people behind bandbase.dk decided to look at the possibilities for moving to a Cloud-based platform and to leave the hosting task in the hand of professionals.

More than 50% savings on hosting costs

In coorporation with Jayway and Proactive an evaluation of the existing set-up was made. When proven that a transition to the Microsofts Azure platform would lower the monthly hosting costs with more than 50 percent the decision was made.

100.000 monthly visitors

Bandbase.dk is now running in the Cloud and every month over 100.000 users visits the new Azure based site bandbase.dk

"We are very happy with the transition", says Bandbase CEO Martin Buck and continues: "The Microsofts Azure Platform is very flexible and scalable, this has meant that we need less computer power than estimated. Our costs has therefore been cut with more than 50 percent and we have a less than 6-month ROI."
